About Me

My name is Catherine McIntire and this is my 7th year teaching at HCS! After working in the corporate world for several years, I realized that I was meant to be in the classroom.  I attended Central Connecticut State University where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in history.  After graduating, I taught first grade at a lovely little school in Goshen before returning "home" to HCS.  I recently earned my Master's Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in math and science.
I live in Harwinton with my husband, Jamin, and our son, Wyatt, and I enjoy fixing up our old 1940's home and drinking coffee! :)

I am thrilled to be living in this community and honored to be teaching at HCS! I grew up in Harwinton and attended HCS, Har-Bur, and Mills. I am extremely proud of Region 10 and its staff, students, and families. I have very strong family ties to HCS, as well! My grandmother spent 22 years working in kindergarten until her retirement. My mother taught in grades 1-4 and recently retired after inspiring students for 38 years. I miss having her in the building! You can also find my sister teaching down the hall in 1st grade! I feel connected to this incredible school on many levels and I intend to give all of my students the same exceptional experience that I had when I was at HCS! Here's to a wonderful year full of fun, learning, and growth!
