Heather Kelly-Welch

Mrs. Kelly-Welch, Speech/Language Pathologist

Welcome to my Region 10 Speech/Language Page. Let me take a moment to introduce myself;

I began working in Region 10 as a therapist in the fall of 2014. I have the privilege to enjoy 2 wonderful sets of staff and students; I spend my mornings at Harwinton Consolidated, and afternoons at Har-Bur Middle School.

 I received my Master of Science degree in Speech and Hearing Science in 2003, from Southern Connecticut State University. I am an experienced pediatric and school aged speech-language pathologist who has been providing services throughout the Hartford and MiddlesexCounty. I hold both a Connecticut State License and Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Throughout my career, I have worked in public school systems as a school-based clinician, as well as practicing independently, providing direct student programming and therapies as well as consultative services.

My clinical experience includes working with highly diverse populations. I have a strong knowledge base in the areas of language disorders, sensory integration specifically in the areas of Pervasive Developmental Disorders/Autism/Asperger’s Disorder, articulation & phonology disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech
, as well as language delays. I have had lengthy training and practice in developing and implementing picture based communication systems. I have also had the ability to extend my training into that of visualizing and verbalizing programs.

When not working as a clinician, I highly enjoy spending time with my 4 school age children (Brayden, Gavin, Kaelyn & Logan) and husband. I love spending time outdoors; working in my garden, playing with my many animals, camping, playing sports with my kids and relaxing by the pool.
